5 FT. TRUG PLANTER PLANS
Our most popular size. This
medium sized planter is just the
right size for growing vegetables,
herbs, and strawberries. Three legs
give it plenty of strength. Materials
for this one will cost around $100 if
you make it out pressure treated
lumber. A good weekend
woodworking project!
63” x 26” wide x 32” tall.
How to Build a Raised Garden Trug Planter
Huge raised garden bed design! These trug-shaped planters have plenty
of room for growing vegetables, herbs, or flowers. No more bending
over! You can build it yourself and be the envy of all your gardening
neighbors. The downloadable woodworking plans read like a book. A
craftsman will take you step by step through construction with easy to
follow diagrams and photos at every step along the way. Plans include at
least 50 pages of full color photos and DIY instructions.
The design is similar to the popular Veg-Trug planter, but this planter is
even better with an X-shaped, sturdy frame. There are no nails.
Everything is screwed and bolted construction.
The instructional guides show you how to build each planter out of long-
lasting treated lumber, but you can also make it out of standard lumber
and paint it if you’d like. Nice!
RAISED BED GARDENING
Raised bed gardening is an effective and efficient way to grow
vegetables and herbs. The soil conditions can be controlled much
easier, and you don’t have the compaction you find in the ground.
This allows roots to grow quickly in a well-drained and loose
environment. Elevated garden beds allow you to fertilize and remove
weeds easier too. Those with little room for an actual garden will
find raised beds a useful alternative. Those gardeners with
disabilities can enjoy gardening with a raised garden too. Kneeling
and bending over is eliminated, so your back will thank you!
Downloadable woodworking plans include pictures and easy to follow
instructions. The plans read like a book, with actual construction photos
explained in detail at every step. Material and tool lists included. Plans are
in PDF format and can viewed on your computer or you can print them on
8.5 x 11 paper.
RAISED TROUGH PLANTER
These pictures show a similar planter I built with the hopes of sharing
the plans with you. Unfortunately a company with the name Veg-Trug
has a patent on the design with H-shaped legs. They had issues with
me offering plans for something that looks like their planter. Silly, I
know! There are some affiliate links to the right if you want to get one
of theirs. But if you’re here, you’re likely looking to build your own.
This raised garden bed is almost 6 ft. long, 30" wide, and stands 30"
tall. Lots of room for planting herbs, flowers, and vegetables.
